Friends of Bronte Creek Park
It's that time of year again! The park will be closing at dusk over the next couple weeks (please see Calendar to check for specific times). As of October 26, 2015 park will close at 5:30pm daily until the outdoor skating rink opens mid-December.
The Annual General Meeting of the Friends of Bronte Creek is scheduled for the evening of October 13 at 7:00pm in the park office. Anyone is welcome to attend but we do ask that you call the park at 905-827-6911, extension 287 and leave a message letting us know that you will be attending so that we may ensure that the venue is large enough to hold everyone interested!
We will be reviewing our accomplishments for the past year and will be electing our board of governors. The following are currently nominated:
President: Doug Entwislte
Secretary: Michael Lansdown
Treasurer: Melinda Verwayne
Vice President: Sheldon Rodriguez
Volunteer Coordinator: Joanne Wright
Member at Large: Dean Travers
We look forward to seeing you there.
Doug Entwistle, President
The Friends of Bronte Creek have provided the park with 13 apple trees to allow the set up of a demonstration apple orchard. These trees are typical of the varieties that would have been found on farms in the area 100 years ago and will be used by NHE staff when doing interpretive programs. The next time you're down by Spruce Lance Farm wander over and take a look!
Our latest members of the farm are a litter of piglets born on Sunday, September 14. You can now visit them at the pig barn at the Childrens Farm.
