Philosophy of the Natural Heritage Education Program

To provide an opportunity for teachers and students to have direct learning experiences in both an outdoor and heritage museum setting which will enhance several aspects of the classroom curriculum.

Bronte Creek Provincial Park Provides:

  • Planning assistance
  • Program materials
  • One staff member per program (not dedicated to group per day)
  • Special needs consideration
  • Sheltered (not heated) areas for lunch
  • Ample bus parking
  • Three education facilities
  • Free pre-trip tours for teachers

    Program Development:

    Please note: Programs at Bronte Creek Provincial Park are meant to compliment the on-going classroom curriculum. The following list has been prepared to aid teachers in planning their yearly progression of themes and units already begun in the classroom.

    All programs have been designed for:

  • Curriculum enrichment
  • Language development
  • Appreciation of nature or heritage
  • Experiential education
  • Social and group development
  • Critical thinking and problem solving
  • Co-operative skills
  • Responsible behaviour

  • Ecological or Heritage understanding
  • Physical Activity
  • Environmental ethics
  • Safety in the out-of-doors

    All programs are offered rain or shine. Modifications are made in the event of severe weather.
