Mail or drop off your resume and cover letter before April 1st. Department managers begin searching for employees April - June. If you have not been contacted by the end of June or early July you have not been successful.
Your cover letter should specify the department you are applying to and highlight your previous work experience as it relates to the position. If you have no formal work experience consider how past volunteering, babysitting, or hobbies relate to the job.
Consider volunteering, it is a great way for the staff to get to know you and for you to get to know the park.
Seasonal job opportunities:
Gate Attendant: cash handling experience, verbal communication skills, knowledge of park facilities and programs.
Maintenance: experience with tractors or riding mowers, painting or garbage, ability to work out of doors in all weather conditions.
Lifeguard: current NLS certification, guarding experience.
Security: knowledge of Ontario Parks policies and regulations, experience or education related to law enforcement, ability to work shifts.
Natural Heritage Education: verbal communication skills, interest in nature and or Ontario heritage.
Store clerk: cash handling experience, food preparation.
